Just before we left for Florida Mitchell came running to me and explained that he had found an "amphibiam". Boy, was he excited and promptly asked, "mom, can I keep him?" (that is the first time I had been asked that question!)
He put the frog in a bowl to show daddy when he returned home from work. That poor frog lived in the bowl (ice cream bucket) all day long with no food...
Long story short, we told him that the frog had to be let go so he could eat and drink and well, live. This news crushed Mitchell - as you can see in the photo he spent plenty of time crying -he didn't want to let his new friend go. It took the better part of an hour to say our goodbyes and determine the appropriate place in the yard to let it go. Oh, and a promise that he
could look for more when we returned home from Florida...
